Near&Far Projects (NFP) is a post-contemporary project company that focuses on presenting surreal dance. Co-founded in 2018 by Rachel Facchini and Tavia Christina, NFP has created and produced works in and around Toronto, Canada through various mediums such as film, theatre, and dance. The company aims to synthesize intimate, dismal and ominous work. Facilitating a platform for artists of all disciplines to research, create and perform.

Within the last six years, the company’s ambitious goals of fostering a hub of a community have been on track. NFP has hosted several community opportunities that have brought various artists together to research and play. As artistic director and choreographer, Tavia Christina strives to further create opportunities for artists to perform and collaborate.

Near Far Projects’ methods are developed by the use of improvisation, text-work, physical theatre and other somatic movement invention tasks. Some of NFP’s repertoire often begins from a place of academic research and then meets the study to apply the learnt information into the physical body. The final work is not necessarily a projection of the topic but rather, a landing of the information and its adaptation to the body.
